Governor Tim Pawlenty is trying to encourage entrepreneurship in his state of minnesota. One of the tactics to do this is to borrow $26.6 million in funds for the University of Minnesota's Carlson School of Management, one of the premier business schools in Minnesota. Most of which will be going towards updating the electrical systems in some buildings as well as updating several out of date technologies. However, he did not request money for research centers and field stations around the state, "which" according to University President Robert Bruininks, "are critical to our strategic goal of becoming one of the top three research facilities in the world."
